Here’s an outline of our data migrations happening to make the Johns Bay Coastal Alliance successful by July 1, 2026. See specifics on certain migration tasks by expanding the page headings below.
We are planning to migrate Google accounts as soon as we can after school is out. What this means is that we will export your aos93.org account, and move the data into your new account. We are currently waiting for Google to approve our Workspace for Education account however, and we don’t know when it will be approved. We will provide more information as soon as we have an update.
What should transfer: Email, Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, Google Drive folders and files.
What might not be able to transfer: Google Calendars, Google Sites, Google Classroom (your Classroom folder structure and files in Drive will transfer but nothing else will), Google Photos from photos.google.com
What can you do to help you ask? Please log in to your Google Drive and delete files you don’t need. Use this opportunity to organize your files into folders too if you want to. I have many files that were “transient” and are no longer useful, and you may too.
Once we have your new account set up and ready for use, we will let you know how to log in and check it out.
We are actively working on transitioning our subscription services billing, data and accounts from AOS93 and into the Johns Bay Coastal Alliance domain. Look for an email shortly with a Google form asking for information about classroom online subscription usage so we can ensure we don’t forget one.
We will also update the account name in AptaFund so you can log in to Employee Self Service as before. Once we have your new account set up and ready for use, we will let you know how to log in and check it out.
If you have any questions, please reach out to either John Cough or John Armentrout for clarification. If we get questions we will create an FAQ and put it on the Johns Bay Coastal Alliance staff support website.
Part of the transition from AOS93 to Johns Bay Coastal Alliance consists of migrating data from AOS93 accounts to johnsbayschools.org Google accounts. One would think this is a simple process, since both are Google domains. Unfortunately this is not the case.
What we will attempt to migrate:
Email messages for the last year or more - though Gmail Labels will be re-created, emails are not tagged with the labels. Labels will appear empty. If you don't use labels, or don't know what they are, don't worry about it.
Google Docs - See the Google Docs migration page on this support site.
This takes time. GMail import for just SBS staff ran for three days, and it wasn't even all staff.
This is a multi-step process that is not perfect, but should provide archived emails that are searchable and discoverable if the need arises. To read more about the details of the process of migrating emails from one Google Workspace to another click here.
During your workshop day in June, we will provide you a password to log in to your new johnsbayschools.org account. Once you have logged in, you should try to only use your johnsbayschools.org account.
NOTE: We cannot ensure at this time, that your AOS93 email will be forwarded to your new account after July 1, 2026. Please change your email address wherever you can in online portals etc.
The video links below explain how to create, use and switch between profiles in Google Chrome. This is useful when users have multiple accounts they must use such as the AOS93.org and johnsbayschools.org accounts. It's important to keep our work for each entity in the appropriate domain. The second video explains two factor authentication and account security details. The third video shows how to add and switch between multiple email accounts on a mobile device.
See the videos links here for help creating and using profiles.
Some of the Shared Google Drive permissions may have not mapped properly during the migration. Send either John C or John A a note with the name of the shared drive and we can set permissions for you.
Export from the old account: Go to the Google Password Manager while signed into your old (@aos93.org) account, click the Settings gear icon, and select Export passwords to download a .csv file.
Import to the new account: Sign into your new (@johnsbayschools.org) account, go to the same Google Password Manager Settings, and use the Import passwords option to upload that .csv file.
Important Security Reminder: The exported .csv file lists all passwords in plain, readable text. Please permanently delete the file from your computer immediately after a successful import.
Moving your bookmarks between school accounts is a straightforward two-step process: you'll export them as an HTML file from your old account and then import that file into your new one.
Here is exactly how to do it:
Open Google Chrome and make sure you are currently using your @aos93.org browser profile.
Click the three vertical dots (menu) in the top-right corner of the window.
Hover over Bookmarks and lists, then click Bookmark manager.
In the Bookmark Manager tab that opens, look for the three vertical dots located at the top-right corner of the blue/gray manager page interface (just under the main browser address bar).
Click it and select Export bookmarks.
Save the HTML file to an easy-to-find location on your computer, like your Desktop or Downloads folder.
Switch over to your new @johnsbayschools.org Chrome profile. (You can switch by clicking your profile picture icon in the very top-right corner of Chrome and selecting your new account).
Click the three vertical dots in the top-right corner of the browser window.
Hover over Bookmarks and lists and select Import bookmarks and settings.
In the drop-down menu that appears, select Bookmarks HTML file.
Click Choose file, find the HTML file you just saved in Step 1, and click Open.
Optional: In the window that opens, there's a small switch to says Show Bookmarks Bar. Turn that on if you want to.
Your old bookmarks will now appear on your new account! If you already had some bookmarks on the new account, the imported ones will likely be tucked into a folder named Imported. You can easily drag and drop them wherever you like using the Bookmark Manager.
